While Young still pursues his love of the ocean, he has dedicated his professional life to music. Next, the Boston-based quartet will work on a piece for Hub New Music that sets the sound recordings of poet Rosie Stockton to music. He is also working on Glow That Illuminates, Glow That Conceals For the American Brass Quintet. The music is matched in an immersive 50-minute audio-visual installation using wave field synthesis that creates 3D audio holograms.
Much like water, “art provides an escape or vision of another space,” Young says. “I think knowing that you can create other realms is really important to our health and psyche.”
