A Beautiful Housewarming Gift Basket

[ad_1]

So many people have moved in in 2021 that you’ve probably considered leaving a housewarming gift for a friend or new neighbor. But what to bring? Today I want to share with you my housewarming gift (or should I say gifts): a housewarming gift basket!

I think one of the most thoughtful things you can do for others is to celebrate with them when something is worth celebrating. And a new home is definitely worth celebrating! And amid all the clutter and boxes, it’s nice to take a break from unpacking when someone drops something special. And this basket is quite special.

Now, I will say that any gift is welcome and appreciated in its own right. But I like to pack a basket full of goodies that I know my recipient will love. You can use a basket you already have in your house (although I found this recently at Michael’s) and fill it with any number of things you want – a candle, a tea towel, cookies. Today, I’m going to share with you a few of my favorite items to add to housewarming gift baskets that are always a big hit.

I always like to add a loaf of freshly baked bread to any basket I take to someone, primarily because I love the symbolism it contains. Traditionally, a loaf of bread was given to someone to bless their new home. Bread symbolizes life and carries the blessing of “this house should never know hunger”. You can get freshly baked bread from a grocery store or local bakery (bonus points if you bake it yourself!). I love Empire Baking Co. in Dallas!

You also can’t go wrong with a candle—like this votive from Diptyque—or a nice coffee table book. (We have a whole article coffee table books that make great gifts!)

These little touches can make a big impact in a room; This is especially helpful for new homeowners or newlyweds when decorating their home for the first time!

If you’re adding food to your gift basket, consider adding a set of disposable plates – because they may not have opened their plates yet! I also added these beautiful floral dinner plates for leaving dinner, and they’re under $5 for a set of eight! there are so many beautiful paper plates Amazon.

And finally, I like to finish the housewarming gift basket with flowers or potted plants. It also contains symbolism and offers the blessing “let your home always be life”. Buy a small plant from your favorite garden store (this is Nicholson-Hardie– in Dallas), place it in one of these beautiful stone containers and you’re ready.

Now you know the secret to crafting a thoughtful and meaningful housewarming gift basket! Something to nurture, something to invigorate, and a few little things to bring joy. You can’t go wrong!
