CBS is restructuring its streaming service to better resemble the TV network

NEW YORK (AP) — CBS News said it’s re-equipping its streaming service to better combine programs and personalities from the television network.

The CBS service is launching a new evening newscast and prime-time series Monday from a new Manhattan-based studio, what promises to be an aggressive build year for news-based products.

The hour-long evening newscast, which will begin at 7 p.m. ET, will feature a rotating cast of anchors from New York, Washington, and Los Angeles. The streaming service will continue to air a repeat of Norah O’Donnell’s “CBS Evening News” later in the evening.

The service will choose from a range of programs that turn the TV off, different each evening, for two hours starting at 8pm. These include “Person to Person”, a series of interviews presented by O’Donnell, and documentaries under the title “CBS Reports.” There will also be shows based on uplifting news segments hosted by Tony Dokoupil, features on the road by Steve Hartman, and “Eye on America” ​​reports by Michelle Miller.

The service will also air the “60 Minutes” and “48 Hours” television episodes, while the “Here Comes the Sun” spots from the “CBS Sunday Morning” program.

Available through the CBS News app at Paramount+, the service has been operating since 2014, but mostly as a “wheel” of flat, sometimes repetitive newscasts.

CBS is also highlighting the integration of broadcast products for local news stations, starting operations Monday, 14th from Miami.

“The biggest thing we do is integrating the network, the digital and the local,” said Neeraj Khemlani, president and co-chairman of CBS News and Stations. “It’s not about three separate products for three separate audiences.”

Khemlani said the gradual conversion of CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC to primarily political discussion networks has provided a clear path to the often-discussed streaming service.
