Wordle users are losing their series as the game moves to the New York Times website

Some users of the popular online word game Wordle have lost their streak and stats after the game’s new owner, The New York Times, moved the game to its website on Thursday.

When The Times purchased the free game from creator Josh Wardle this month, Mr. Wardle said players will continue their series once the URL has been moved.

After tweeting on Thursday that it was aware of the problem and was working on a solution, The Times released an update on Friday, citing an issue with the new URL and telling users how to keep their series alive.

Wordle remains free for new and existing players.
