Ratcliffe hits Biden administration for allegedly buying drones from Iran

Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said on Sunday that the Biden administration had purchased drones from a Chinese technology company that the Trump administration has restricted from doing business in the United States due to national security concerns.

Ratcliffe, who served under former President Donald Trump, told Fox News “Sunday Morning Futures” that the Biden administration had purchased drone technology. DJI, which is on trade department‘NS Entity List.

“The Biden administration, through the FBI and Secret Service, bought from DJI, a company that the Trump administration flagged in 2017,” Mr Ratcliffe said. “The Department of Homeland Security said that the company in question used drones to provide information about US critical infrastructure to the Chinese Communist Party. And that was moderate confidence that it was happening, so our administration took it all out and basically came up with a policy where we wouldn’t use that Chinese technology.”

The Biden administration appears to have changed the restrictions placed on DJI in June 2021. According to the Federal Register, the Biden administration’s End-User Review Committee changed Inclusion of DJI in the Entity List to exclude various technologies.

Entity List Contains the names of foreign individuals and organizations that are subject to restrictions on their business in the United States due to national security concerns. A trade department The spokesperson told the Washington Times in May that the Entity List contains more than 1,500 names.
