White House press secretary Jen Psaki He said the White House is actively investigating what it believes is COVID-19 “misinformation” and “flagging problematic posts for Facebook.”

The Democrat commented Thursday while speaking to reporters about the contagion and Silicon Valley’s role in controlling information about it.

We’ve increased disinformation research and monitoring within the Ms. Surgeon General’s Office. Psaki I said. “We flag problematic posts that spread disinformation for Facebook.”

The Biden administration emphasized that it is in close contact with the social media giants on the issue.

“We are in regular contact with social media platforms and these engagements are usually through members of our senior staff as well as members of our COVID-19 team. [Surgeon General Dr. Vivek] Murthy stated that this is a big problem of misinformation, especially about the pandemic.”

Images of Ms. Psaki‘s comments were picked up by the official RNC Research Twitter account and quickly spread on Twitter.

While White House supporters applauded the move, critics compared the behavior to something inspired by George Orwell’s “1984.”

“It’s important to take action faster against malicious posts,” said Mrs. Psaki continued. “Facebook needs to act faster to remove infringing malicious posts.”
