OMG, You’ll Never Believe What Laser Vacuum Reveals

After testing the cleaning technology for about a week, I came to the conclusion that there are viable ways to bring these gadgets into our lives. Here is a guide.

Introduced last year, the V15 Detect is Dyson’s latest vacuum cleaner. Getting started is simple: you charge the battery, attach a cleaning nozzle to the wand, and press a button.

The device comes with seven cleaning heads to suck up dust and dirt from smaller areas such as hardwood floors, carpets and crevices. The roller attachment for hardwood is the laser one. It makes night sweeping one thing – the darker it is, the more visible the laser will be. The carpet attachment includes a cutter to cut the hair, which reduces the need for maintenance on the head.

Stick vacuums have been popular for their lightweight and cordless mobility, making cleaning less of a hassle than vacuuming with an upright cordless vacuum cleaner. Overall, however, the sticks acted as a secondary cleaner to a full-size vacuum cleaner due to their short battery life and relatively weak suction.

I can confirm that the stick vacuum has come a long way. The V15 Detect has a motor that is much more powerful and has a stronger suction than my Dyson V6 vacuum cleaner released in 2015. Its battery lasted about 40 minutes, long enough to get through my modest-sized house before needing a charge. (My V6 took about 15 minutes.)

Finally, the Dyson’s suction power was not as strong as my extremely powerful Miele bagged vacuum cleaner. But after two weeks of vacuuming wood floors and carpets with a stick, I didn’t feel the need to plug in the full-size vacuum.

The $850 robot vacuum Roomba J7+ and the $450 robot mop the Braava Jet M6, both from iRobot, take some getting used to. Devices rely on cameras, sensors and artificial intelligence to create a map of your home. Once a map is created, you can tag each room and tell the robots to clean certain areas or the whole place.
